Today, we bid farewell to a true pioneer in women’s sports and a beloved member of the AAGPBL Baseball family. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Barbara “Bobbye” Payne, a remarkable athlete who left an indelible mark on the game.

From her days as an infielder and pitcher for the Springfield Sallies to her tenure with the Kalamazoo Lassies, Muskegon Lassies, Battle Creek Belles, and Rockford Peaches, Barbara’s talent and passion for baseball shone brightly. But her impact extended far beyond the diamond.

As a 10-time winner of the Shreveport, Louisiana Women’s Golf Championship over four decades, Barbara exemplified resilience, dedication, and excellence. Her achievements paved the way for future generations of female athletes, inspiring countless individuals along the way.
