Mike Pankow, Director

Mike PankowMike Pankow grew up in Hortonville, WI and spent a lot of his youth on the baseball field.  His father, Richard, coached for 30 years in the Hortonville High School program and was responsible for forming Hortonville Legion Baseball.  Pankow was on the team in 1998 when Hortonville High School completed their second consecutive undefeated state championship season, and then went on to play college baseball and basketball at Northland College in Ashland, WI.

After finishing his playing career, Pankow went right into coaching both baseball and basketball at the high school level and for Hortonville Legion Baseball.  He then went back to Northland College as an assistant basketball and baseball coach, before getting his first college coaching job at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.  It was there that he met Oz Sailors who played for Pankow during her junior and senior seasons.  Pankow was named the NCAA AD3I Coach of the Year in 2016.  Pankow left UMPI and was named the Head Coach at Bay College in Escanaba, MI where he was asked to start the Baseball Program that first competed in 2019.

Pankow cites Sailors one of his biggest sources of inspiration.  “Oz has been a friend of mine since getting the opportunity to coach her and is an amazing young lady.  It is through her that I was able to stay in touch with women in baseball and eventually get the opportunity to coach in the Women’s World Baseball Classic in 2023.  I am so grateful that through Oz I have the opportunity to continue to coach young women and to help forge paths for women to achieve their dreams.”

———-

I believe in living a life of no regrets…this means I can look back on my life one day knowing I strived to go after the best version of myself…learning what I’m truly made of. As a coach, that’s what I want for my clients. But I know, this can’t be done alone. We need support, we need people that will challenge us, that believe in us. We need to learn the discipline necessary to take ACTION each day, even on days when we don’t feel like it….these actions will ultimately lead to belief in one’s self. You see yourself doing the things you didn’t think you could, which leads to gaining more confidence and respect for yourself.

But sometimes we just don’t know where to start. I’m here for this…I’m here to help you get started and guide you through your individual journey! If it’s performance, making the roster for your dream team, fat loss, muscle gain or just better overall health and wellness. I’ve built a community that doesn’t settle, doesn’t make excuses, says enough is enough and I will not be a victim of my past, or my circumstances and I will step up, work hard and control what I can. I will keep my word and commitment to myself. I deserve to show up for myself and go after my full potential.

This program is not a quick fix program, it’s learning to maintain a lifestyle that will slowly but surely help you towards your goals, in a way where you can thrive with your health and not just survive with extreme deficits, deprivation and hours and hours in the gym. If you’re willing to work and be patient, the program will WORK.

Alpha Squad is not only a physical health community but a mental health community, through our trial and tribulations, made stronger together through our battles. This means my role is not only your fitness coach and mentor, but your friend.
