AAGPBL Player Sue Zipay Featured in March 2 Virtual Program

In honor of Women’s History Month, special guest Sue Zipay will reminisce about her time playing in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League as well as her role in the hit film “A League of Their Own”in a Virtual Voices of Game event at 2 p.m. on March 2.

Zipay, a right-handed pitcher and an infielder/outfielder from Hingham, Mass., played in 1953 and 1954 with the Rockford Peaches.

Additional programs include a Virtual Voices of the Game with Jenny Dalton-Hill of ESPN and a Virtual Curator Spotlight highlighting the American League West.

Tuesday, March 2, 2 p.m.Special guest Sue Zipay will help the Hall of Fame celebrate Women’s History Month with stories about her time playing in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League as well as her role in the hit film “A League of Their Own”in this virtual program.Zipay, who played for the Rockford Peaches in 1953 and 1954, joined nearly two dozen women for an AAGPBL reunion held in Cooperstown in 2019.

Virtual Voices of the Game: Jenny Dalton-Hill
Tuesday, March 9, 2 p.m.In our continued celebration of Women’s History Month, current ESPN/SEC Analyst Jenny Dalton-Hill will join us to discuss her baseball career. She will reflect on her experience as a member of the 1997 Colorado Silver Bullets as well as her role as a member of the 2010 USA Women’s Baseball Team that brought home the bronze medal at the IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup.Dalton-Hill will also reminisce about playing for Hall of Famer Phil Niekro, who managed the Silver Bullets. During Niekro’s 1997  Hall of Fame Induction Speech, he saluted the team, saying: “This is America and this is the land of the free and the home of the brave, and all they want is the chance to play baseball and an opportunity, so I am honored and very privileged to be a part of (this) organization for the past four years.

Virtual Curator Spotlight: Starting Nine-AL West
Wednesday, March 10, 2 p.m.The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s collection contains tens of thousands of artifacts, and our curators have created the Starting Nine by hand-picking nine must-see pieces for each of the 30 MLB teams. In this virtual program, a Hall of Fame curator will give you a glimpse of artifacts in the Museum’s collection from the five American League West teams.This limited-time list is the perfect introduction to the Museum for every fan. To learn more about the teams of the AL West, explore the Starting Nine.
